Emma Campbell is the Co-convenor of Alliance for Choice in Northern Ireland – the largest org representing the 1000s of people who have had to access abortion since the 70s beyond their borders and now within it. Her recent practice and research is embedded in women’s documentary photography and its links to feminist activism. Primarily focusing on the issues raised by the lack of abortion access for women in the island of Ireland, attitudes fostered by colonialism and deep religious conservatism, I make work that is image-based (photography and collage), performative and active in affecting change.
