The Hand That Rocks The Cradle

This artwork shows a mother laying inside a crib in a fetal position. The crib where we keep children is usually a means to protect them, however here the crib is what is caging the mother inside. Motherhood is the most demanding and sometimes unappreciated task in the world. Being a mother can be alienating and often cause crippling anxiety where you feel like you’re caved into the walls of your own mind. The fetal position reminds the mother of a safe place where she once used to be.
